What A Favorite Place!

Grafton Street, Dublin Posted by Hello

There are only a few places in the world which always have abundant human energy, 24 hours a day. From the people and not from an event or a rock star or a ride. Fifth Avenue NYC, Wanchai Hong Kong, and Grafton Street Dublin are among them.

Christmas in Ireland? Probably not this year, but what fun to think about.

I spent only 2hours in Hong Kong, banging my head on the low overhead ductwork of the airport terminal as I was ushered through customs on a change of equipment to fly home and did not have the pleasure to sight see the city. This just before repatriation of the city/state to the Chinese government from the British. Sad to think I missed that.
However, you did not mention Singapore as a favorite place, one of mine, which, I spent a couple of days in and got to shop and sight-see. I found it delightfully foreign, and even had a 'Singapore Sling' at the bar in Raffle's where it was invented, conjuring myself as the intrepid explorer from a previous millenium......

I have not yet been to Singapore, but I look forward to someday. I hear that Hong Kong is nearly as nice now as it was as a Crown Colony. That is because it is one of China's few cash cows. Alas, no more jokes about Mao's Little Red Book, I guess. If I get to Singapore, I hope to spend some time in Hong Kong, too.
