Rock 'n Roll

Check out how Memphis, Tennessee is celebrating Rock 'n Roll's 50th anniversary. They reckon that R’nR started with Elvis Presley's recording of "That's All Right" in July 1954. There’s some debate, since "Shake, Rattle and Roll" by Jesse Stone was recorded by both Big Joe Turner and Bill Haley & His Comets in the spring and fall of 1954, and broke into U.S. hits. Buddy Holly didn’t get a contract (from Decca Records) until 1955. But let's not quibble.

The celebration all comes up this summer, so check it out!
