Wouldncha Just Know It?
"Supported by more than 50 shouting demonstrators, Cindy Sheehan, 48, told reporters, 'I want to ask George Bush: Why did my son die?'
"Sheehan arrived in Crawford aboard a bus painted red, white and blue and emblazoned with the words, 'Impeachment Tour.' Her son, Casey, 24, was killed in Sadr City, Iraq, on April 4, 2004. He was an Army specialist, a Humvee mechanic.
"Sheehan, from Vacaville, California, had been attending a Veterans for Peace Convention in Dallas. She vowed she would camp out as close as she could get to the president's ranch until Bush comes out and talks to her."
I can't get away from controversy...

I wish Bush would come out and talk to her, mostly because I am curious just what he would actually say.

She tipped her hand when she told the press, "I'll ask him why he killed my son." She will never see him now.
Besides, he's a politician, so like Kennedy, Warner, Rumsfeld, Boxer, he will speak in platitudes and try not to answer her question, but to appear deeply concerned, warmly engaged, and mostly in need of a few House votes on his budget.
Unfortunately, the only one who wins in this case is her deceased son, who no longer has to put up with "Wacky Mom".

I think I would agree with you on the whole thing. It really wouldn't be a normal conversation. A very interesting post and thoughts on this situation. Well done.

SO when did you land on the Left Coast?
You are in Vacaville? Lovely place. I think that north coast part of California is awesome.
My gal-pal is from Fairfax. Don't you have to own a bank to live there?

LTH, I got her a couple of weeks ago, on a contract with a company in Vacaville. It has been 100 degrees plus since I got here, both in Sacramento and in V-Ville, but I seems to be breaking now. Great country! I haven't seen house prices and fancy neighborhoods yet. Groceries seem to by less expensive than I am used to on the east coast. Gas and especially diesel for my truck is outlandishly expensive!

Dear West Coast:
Don't even start thinking you own Greg, Lacy, or Big Ride. Or Big Trailer, either. He's East Coast, biotches.

My deepest sympathy goes out to True Patriot's Dad on the loss of his son. I do feel, however, that Mr. Bush should talk to the lady. By him ignoring her only makes him look bad. All three of my brothers were in Iraq at the same time and thankfully they all three came home safely. All three did not re enlist because of Bush and they (all three) had 20+ years in the service.

Gerbera Daisy, your thoughts are always welcome. Bush met with Cindy Sheehan and her husband and Casey's father last June. The Vacaville newspaper, The Reporter, said that the meeting was cordial, they talked about their son's death, and they had plenty of opportunities to ask their questions. I am not a fan of Bush's Iraq episode, but I think he already did his job as to meeting with her.
